On Sunday, September 13, the festival opens with dancing and drumming, and in the evening the lanterns on the yagura are lit for the first time.

Opening with Dance and Drums
The Opening Ceremony of the NAGOYA PORT FES Minato Sports Plaza Venue. Dancing by the local group あすなろ会 (Asunaro-kai), Japanese taiko by 高六太鼓 (Takaroku Daiko), children's taiko by ひよ鼓舞太 (Hiyokobuta), and Okinawan Eisa by 琉球國祭り太鼓 (Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko): four groups gather on the Nagoya Port stage.
Then from 17:00, the lanterns on the yagura are lit for the first time this festival, and あすなろ会 (Asunaro-kai) begin their Bon Odori. Come and see the circle of dancers under the lantern light, a scene you can only see on this day.
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.

At the Urban Sports Park, professional riders put on a BMX show twice, once in the daytime and once in the evening (30 minutes each). BMX and skateboard jam sessions are also held before and after the shows.
- Oct 18SunNagoya Port × Idol Day, from 11:30A day of stage performances centered on local idols. 12 acts perform.
- Oct 23–24Fri–SatNagoya Port × Okinawa DayEisa dancing by 愛知エイサー協議会 (Aichi Eisa Kyogikai) and 海風エイサー (Umikaji Eisa), Okinawan folk songs by 与那覇政克with MAMI (Masakatsu Yonaha with MAMI), and a stage performance by YOUNG JUICY.
